Mole Removal

Moles are skin growths composed of a cluster of cells, that are either skin colour, pigmented (tan or dark colour), and they are usually round growths that can appear anywhere on your face, neck, chest, shoulder, back, hands, arms and legs. If a mole is dark in colour, this means that there is a large concentration of melanin or pigment in the cells that make up the mole.  A benign mole (ie Non cancerous) usually has a symmetrical shape, even borders, one even colour, and is usually smaller than a pencil eraser’s end.  Any individual may have only one, or multiple moles.   A benign mole can be a source of embarrassment and can be easily removed by the right facial plastic surgeon, in a way that leaves minimal, and sometimes no scarring.

Moles can appear on your body at any age, ranging from childhood, to adulthood or even later in life.  They usually grow very slowly and can change only very slightly in colour.  If your mole has a significant change in colour, size, shape or sensation over a relatively short period of time, it is advisable to have this mole checked by a facial plastic surgeon, or dermatologist. Dr. Zakhary is expertly trained in surgery of the head and neck, and facial plastic surgery, and is qualified to assess and remove your mole in her office in Calgary, if you have any concerns about your mole.

Dr. Kristina Zakhary often consults with, and performs mole removal treatments for her patients in Calgary, Alberta, if they would like to have their moles removed for cosmetic reasons, and if the mole is benign.  If you have a mole that you would like to have assessed, Dr. Zakhary can advise you on whether it is most likely benign and non cancerous.  If this is the case, then she can expertly remove your mole, comfortably, under local anesthesia, in her office under sterile conditions.
