Fraxel Laser

The advantage of using Fraxel Laser with Dr. Zakhary is that this laser technology is ideal for many skin types, including Asian skin and darker skin types, with fewer risks of other conventional laser technologies. Fraxel® laser technology is a tried and true approach to treating aging and sun damaged skin. It can offer more dramatic results for your skin when compared to conventional non ablative laser treatments. The results of the Fraxel Re:Store laser can also be dramatic without the side effects of traditional ablative laser treatments which can include hyperpigmentation (darker skin), hypopigmentation (lighter skin) or facial scarring. The reason that Fraxel Laser carries less risks than ablative lasers, is that Fraxel uses pixel technology, where the laser treats only a fraction of the skin at one time by producing of micorscopic heated columns in your skin, which penetrate deep into the layers of the skin, and leaves microscopic columns of normal skin in between the treated areas. This allows for less down time and quicker recovery since the normal columns of skin will help to heal the treated pixels of skin. This is called “fractional” treatment.

Fraxel laser is done in a series of less intense treatments, and so the risks of each treatment is less, and so is the recovery time.

Fraxel FAQ’s

Typically you will need between 4 to 6 Fraxel laser treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart, for best results. For Acne scar improvement you may need more treatments for optimal results. You will start to see your result around 1 to 3 months after your first laser treatment. Dr. Zakhary recommends that you have a maintenance treatment every year to maintain your nice skin improvements.

You will have some slight facial redness and swelling. This usually will last for 3 to 4 days, but this can vary depending on how aggressive the treatment was, and how your body normally heals.

Dr. Zakhary recommends that you wear sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher and practice sun avoidance with a large brim hat or baseball hat during your treatment series and while you are healing.

This depends on your particular skin conditions and how you care for your skin after your Fraxel laser treatments. After your skin is restored, Dr. Zakhary recommends that you practice good sun protection and a good at home medical skin cream program so that you can maintain your youthful, healthy and rejuvenated skin.

Dr. Zakhary is an expert injector of wrinkle reduction agents and facial fillers like Restylane and Perlane. She will be happy to provide you with these treatments at the same time as your Fraxel laser treatment. Usually, Fraxel laser can be performed at the same time as other cosmetic facial procedures such as wrinkle reduction agents and Fillers.
